Music Subscription Licensing FAQs

I’d like to try out ALIBI before I start a subscription. How do I do that?
Easy, just register on the site and you may start searching, browsing, and previewing ALIBI's music and FX catalogs and our intricate search and organization system of stems, cutdowns, and alternate versions. When you decide to use the music in your story, you may purchase the license individually or sign up for a subscription to receive download access. Register for a free account now!

I don’t need a lot of music. Can I just pay for tracks as I need them?
Absolutely! You only need a Needle-Drop License. It’s easy. After you register you may purchase one or more tracks as you need them using the ecommerce system on the website. Be sure to accurately identify the use for the project you are creating so that you will be cleared for that use.

What are the restrictions on an Indie Subscription plan?
An Indie Plan is for personal use only. You may not create videos, podcasts or other uses of the licensed music for a third party. The videos may not be used to promote a business, product or service. The videos or podcasts may not be made available for sale or distribution and may not be sponsored.

Which plan allows me to license music for videos I am making for someone else?
You must use the Small Business Plan. The Indie Plan is for personal use only.

How do you define “Small Business” for a Subscription Plan?
A business or non-profit organization that had gross revenue less than $10,000,000 in its most recent fiscal year and is not a subsidiary or affiliate of another business entity. If your business has revenue greater than that, please review our other licensing options or contact us .
There is no limit to the number of clients for whom you make videos under the Small Business Plan.

How do you define “End Client” for Small Business Plan subscribers?
An End Client must also be a Small Business, a business that had a gross revenue less than $10,000,000 in the most recent fiscal year and is not a subsidiary or affiliate of another business entity. The Client must be an unrelated third party that is paying you a fee to create the video for the client. If your client has higher revenue you may explore the Standard License rate card or contact us.
There is no limit to the number of clients for whom you make videos under the Small Business Plan.

Are all tracks published by ALIBI included in the Subscription Plans?
Yes!

I need to make a video for both online and broadcast. May I use a Subscription Plan for music for my video?
No. ALIBI’s subscription plans are for social media and internet use only, not including paid video streaming platforms (like Netflix, Hulu, etc.). For broadcast licenses contact us .

After I have completed a video for a client, how do I transfer rights to the music in the video to the client?
If you have a Small Business License you automatically have the right to transfer the license to the Small Business that commissioned the video.

After I have completed a video for a client, how do I clear the video for the YouTube channel the client will be using?
Easy! If you’re licensing work for placement on YouTube, be sure to list your YouTube channel with ALIBI. Your program will then be allowlisted for YouTube.

Is there a Subscription License for film, television ads, tv programs, and streaming content (such as Netflix, Hulu, etc.)?
ALIBI offers Blanket Licenses for film, broadcast and streaming programs, promos and advertisements. Please contact us.

What is the license term for use of videos created during my subscription?
The license for use of ALIBI’s music in videos created during the term of your subscription is in perpetuity (forever) and worldwide. All videos published during an active subscription will be cleared forever, and you will never need to pay anything else for that placement.

What happens if I distribute a video after cancelling a subscription?
When your subscription expires you may not publish new videos with ALIBI music. Videos published after the subscription period has ended will be subject to copyright claim.
